2021 Emergency Grants: Visual Arts

Sula Bermudez-Silverman (Altadena, CA), a multidisciplinary artist and sculptor, received a grant in February to present To Fear a Painted Devil at Murmurs in Los Angeles, on view March 6-April 10.

Rachelle Dang and Jodie Lyn-Kee-Chow (Brooklyn, NY), visual and performance artists, received a grant in March to present Daughters of Lam at Five Myles in Brooklyn, NY, on view April 24-May 30.

Maria De Los Angeles (Jersey City, NJ), a visual artist, received a grant in March to install a two-person exhibition at the Instituto Cultural de Mexico at the Mexican Consulate of Miami in Miami, FL, on view April 1-May 14.

Jeremy Dean (Princeville, HI), a sculptor, filmmaker, and multimedia artist, received a grant in February to present Neither I, Nor Time, Nor History at MOCA Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL, on view February 19-May 19.

Eseosa Edebiri (Chicago, IL) a digital, text, and textile artist, received a grant in February to present the Akugbe series in the group exhibition Diasporic Futurism Pt. II at Root Division in San Francisco, CA, on view February 1-27.

Baris Gokturk (Brooklyn, NY), a visual artist and filmmaker, received a grant in January to present new work at The Boiler at ELM Foundation, in Brooklyn, May 15-August 15.

Kathy Goodell (New Paltz, NY), a visual artist, received a grant in January to present Infra-Loop, Selections 1994-2020 at Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz, February 6-July 11.

Kyoko Hamaguchi (Brooklyn, NY), a photographer, received a grant in March to present Postal Summary at Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Philadelphia, PA, on view April 9-May 9.

Tamara Kostianovsky (Brooklyn, NY), a visual artist, received a grant in January to present Savage Legacy at Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, MA, March 13-August 22.

Timothy Lee (Hicksville, NY), a multimedia artist, received a grant in March to present American Dream(ing) at Coral Springs Museum of Art in Coral Springs, Fl, March 18-May 1.

Elisa Lendvay (Poughkeepsie, NY), a sculptor, received a grant in March to install work in the two-person exhibition Meridian at the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery at the University of Dallas in Dallas, TX, on view April 19-May 25.

Ming Lin and Alexandra Tatarsky (Brooklyn, NY), a writer, archivist, and visual artist and a theater artist, received a grant in February to install Canal Street Research Association at Wallplay on Canal in New York, on view March 1-April 1.

Raafi Rivero (Brooklyn, NY), a photographer and filmmaker, received a grant in January to present Unarmed at Leon Gallery in Denver, CO, January 30-February 26.

Miseal Soto (Miami, FL), a conceptual, video, and installation artist, received a grant in February to install Department of Reflection Main Office in collaboration with the City of Miami Beach on the streets of South Beach, FL, on view February 1-28.
